Style Spotting: 10 Banquette Styles to Elevate Your Kitchen and Dining Room Décor

A banquette provides an excellent way to add seating in a small space. Both cozy and also chic, here are some banquette designs we have been swooning over, with a few of our own custom designs at the end.

1. Moody Blues

This banquette gives us Michelin star restaurant vibes. The dramatic blue, the sumptuous leather and the dramatic art and lighting all add to the effect.

2. Clean Modernity

While banquettes may have a cozy cottagey reputation, this one hits the mark with its modern style quotient. Black and white is always good against a strong color like this green, and the classic molding details lend a classic counterbalance to the edgy modern fabric.

3. Charm School

Using the space from wall to wall is the perfect way to get the most cozy seating out of a set space. Custom window treatments and strategically placed wicker sconces, as well as the mix of modern chanelling on the upholstery with the vintage table and chairs, provide for a charming aesthetic that is not too sweet.

4. Coast to Coast

Not just one but two casual, relaxation inducing banquette areas set the scene for reading a good book and opening the windows so you can listen to the waves. A banquette is known for kitchen seating, but a little relaxing nook is another way to work a banquette.

5. Classic but Curvy

Sometimes the upholstery makes the design. This curvy, channel-tufted beauty does just that.

6. Hanging On

As designers, we talk about things being "too leggy" sometimes. A wall-mounted seating option relieves us of "too many legs" while also providing a much lower-cost alternative to a full blown built-in banquette.

7. Kitchen Hub

We all know the kitchen is the hub of the house. Combining the kitchen island with banquette seating is such a game changer. Do what works for your lifestyle and your family. This banquette looks easy to clean and perfect for a family, providing lots of casual seating.

8. Cottage Charm

This litte breakfast niche in our Merrimac Project was the perfect spot for a banquette. This fun custom banquette added not only additional seating, but also much needed storage in the seat. Much like powder baths, little nooks like this can become jewel boxes with the layering of colorful wallpaper, upholstery, window treatments and lighting!

9. Family Gathering

In our Lake Kiowa project we had the specific goal of seating as many people as possible, since the lake house is used for big family gatherings. We had both custom tables and upholstery made, using a performance fabric that can be easily cleaned.

10. Transitional Mix

The classic tulip table is always a win for a banquette seating area. In this project, the modern table was paired with more classic chairs and a statement chandelier for an ecletic mix.
