Some projects just steal your heart, and this 1939 home was one of them. Nestled in a charming neighborhood, this small but mighty house was ready for a vibrant new chapter. Our client, a free-spirited vintage lover, dreamed of a home that felt cozy, colorful, and full of life—like a perfectly curated collection of stories from around the world. With bold patterns, eclectic thrifted treasures, and an indoor jungle of plants, we set out to bring that vision to life in this historic bohemian home remodel.

The Before: A Dated but Promising Canvas
Every old home has its quirks, and this one was no exception. While it had great bones, it lacked the personality and warmth our client craved. The layout was tight, the colors were muted, and the overall aesthetic felt stuck in the past—but not in the charming, intentional way we love.

The Vision: Layered, Lived-In, and Lush
Our goal was to honor the home’s vintage character while infusing its remodel with rich hues, dynamic patterns, and a globally inspired mix of textures. Think Moroccan rugs, jewel-toned velvets, rattan accents, and walls that tell a story. And, of course, no bohemian home is complete without an abundance of plants!

The After: A Cozy, Collected Sanctuary
The final result? A home that feels like an extension of our client’s personality—warm, welcoming, and wonderfully eclectic. Every corner tells a story, every color sparks joy, and every plant has found its perfect home. It’s proof that small spaces can still be big on style, and that vintage charm + bold design = pure magic.
A Fireplace That Steals the Show
One of the most dramatic transformations happened in the living room, where we replaced a colonial-style fireplace that was not original to the home. Instead, we designed a stunning custom emerald green fireplace—a true statement piece that instantly elevates the space. The deep, rich green adds warmth and sophistication while perfectly complementing the home's bold, bohemian aesthetic. With a mix of vintage and modern styling around it, the fireplace now feels like it truly belongs—both to the home and to our client's vibrant personality.
The Kitchen Transformation: From Cramped to Open & Inviting
One of the first and most impactful changes we made was removing the wall between the small kitchen and the equally small dining room, creating one open area for entertaining.
Goodbye Flintstones floor and hello Moroccan tile!

Results: A Kitchen Made for Cooking and Entertaining
This instantly created an open, airy space—perfect for our client, who loves to cook and entertain. Now she has plenty of room to prepare meals inspired by her travels, whether it's a fragrant Moroccan tagine, a spicy Thai curry, or homemade Italian pasta.
To enhance the kitchen’s character, we introduced:
Vintage-Inspired Tile: A bold, colorful Zellige tile backsplash and the 2-tone Moroccan star and cross pattern for the flooring tile adds personality and ties together the eclectic global aesthetic. Zellige is a type of handmade, glazed, terracotta tile that originated in Morocco. The tiles are known for their unique colors, textures, and imperfections - so perfect for this project.
Open Shelving: Perfect for displaying an array of collected ceramics, spices from around the world, well-loved cookbooks and plants.
Warm Wood Accents: Modern slab cabinet fronts in a warm stain keep the space feeling grounded and inviting, while the natural reed hardware adds a natural element.
A Statement Hood: A custom range hood in a striking design brings in both function and charm.
The Den: From Patio to a Cozy Hideaway
Another major transformation in this home was converting a previously enclosed patio into a fully functional den. Since we expanded the kitchen into the former dining room space, we wanted to create a new area for relaxed dining, morning coffee, and intimate conversation.
The solution? A custom-built banquette, tucked into a cozy corner, creating the perfect nook for our client to start her day or unwind with a book.
With soft, ambient lighting, layered textiles, and, of course, more plants, the den now feels like the heart of the home—a space to lounge, entertain, and enjoy life's little moments.

The house had no less than 4 doors in the main bedroom! We closed these two up and added custom wood shelving to create a cozy nook and display for our client's many vintage treasures. To round out the seating, we scored an amazing 1960s Rowe Gondola Sofa—a sculptural mid-century beauty with the perfect mix of style and comfort. Pairing it with a vintage amoeba rattan coffee table (which we had tucked away in storage) added that layered, well-collected feel that makes a bohemian home so special.

This project was all about embracing bold design, rich textures, and the beauty of a collected home. By blending vintage charm with modern function, we created a space that feels deeply personal and effortlessly inviting. From the vibrant kitchen to the cozy den and that show-stopping emerald fireplace, every detail was designed to reflect our client’s love of color, travel, and eclectic style. It’s proof that when a home tells a story, it becomes so much more than just a place to live—it becomes a place to truly belong.
